MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL MEETING OF BUTTERWICK PARISH COUNCIL HELD IN THE VILLAGE HALL ON TUESDAY 12 MAY 2026

Present:              

Chairman:           A Gosling

Councillor:          C Gosling, C Smith, L Pearson, J Barton, C Payne

2026/47    To elect the Chairman for the 2026/27 administration period

It was proposed by Cllr L Peason that Cllr A Gosling continue in the position of Chairman for the next administration period which was seconded by Cllr C Payne and carried unanimously.

2026/48  To receive the declarations of Acceptance of the Office of Chairman

The Chairman completed the Acceptance of Office form which was also signed by the clerk.

2026/49  To Elect a Vice Chairman for the 2026/27 Administration Period  

It was proposed that Cllr C Gosling continue in the position of Vice-Chairman which was carried unanimously.

Public Forum

There were 2 members of the public in attendance.

Mrs Claire Cordy attended the meeting and gave an overview of her history and experience in support of her application for Co-option as Councillor.

J Elley attended the meeting as representative for Rev A Higginson to advise of the calendar and costs for Churchyard maintenance. The clerk advised that the Parish Council had a power to meet the cost of churchyard maintenance and therefore this would continue.

A further member of the parish attended the meeting to ask if the Parish Council would consider adding inclusive playground equipment in the park. It was suggested that she could contact the Local Hope charity who had arranged for installation of this type of equipment in other parks in the borough

2026/50   Apologies

There were no apologies received

2026/51  Receipt of any declarations of interest in accordance with the requirements of the  Localism Act 2011.

There were no declarations of interests given.

2026/52 To receive and approve the notes of the Council meeting held on Tuesday 14 April 2026

It was RESOLVED that the notes of the meeting be accepted and be signed by the Chairman.

2026/53   Butterwick Park

The clerk confirmed she had contacted Vere Bros and was awaiting a response regarding the potholes in the entrance to the car park..

2026/54 Bus Provision through the village

Members agreed that a resolution would not be forthcoming and to remove this item from the agenda.

2026/55 Village Hall CCTV grant request

Members discussed the costings provided by Cllr J Barton and RESOLVED to award an ongoing donation at the end of each financial year to cover 50% of the annual maintenance costs as presented.

2026/56  Finance

It was RESOLVED to accept the payments as per the payment sheet 05/2026.

2025/57  Matters for discussion or to be added to the next agenda.

It was agreed to add an item to discuss the inclusive play equipment to the next agenda.

The attending members of the public left the meeting

2026/58  Co-option discussion

Members of the council discussed the application which had been received and the personal statement given at the beginning of the meeting and RESOLVED to co-opt Mrs Claire Cordy onto Butterwick Parish Council.

2025/59 Date of the next Parish Council Meeting

Date of the next Meeting of the Parish Council will be held on Tuesday 9 June 2026.

 There being no further business to discuss, the Chairman thanked those in attendance and declared the meeting closed.
